The US National Team  
 

According to the Rules and Regulations of WKA, the World Kickboxing and Karate Association, every country has the possibility to bring along three fighters for every weight division in every discipline.

In order to be eligible to join the USKBF National Team, you must meet these conditions:

  • You must be allowed to travel outside the US, which means that you should have a valid Passport. You do not need to be a US citizen, as long as you are a legal resident of the United States. Most of the European countries require that your passport is valid 6 months beyond your travel date, please pay attention to this!
  • If you are younger than 18 years, and if you intend to travel withouth your parents, you must bring with you a notarized confirmation of your parent or legal guardian, saying that you are allowed to participate in martial art competitions.
  • We also need a medical certificate not older than 1 year, saying that you are fit to compete in martial arts. If you need to take any prescription drugs, make sure to take the prescription along to the doctor issuing the certificate.
  • You must have a health insurance which covers accidents and illnesses abroad. Your team coach will collect this information along with a contact number of your nearest relatives.
  • We believe that the US Team should be easly recognized as such, when present at the competition location. This requires that all team members wear the same t-shirt and uniform. During the fights however, you are allowed to wear your own personal protection gear, as long as it is conform to the WKA Rules and Regualtions.
  • Inexpensive but good accomodation is not only hard to find for your family vacation, but also rare on championships. Big groups, like the USKBF National Team, of 200 and more participants need to find and secure their hotels quite early. This means that we have to make a financial committment to the Hotel. Please make sure to register before the deadline, as late bookings tend to be much more expensive, and sometimes we couldn't accept them due to airline tickets or hotels being sold out!
